  • Camp

Well Holidays are over! Whew time flies! Here is a few pictures from our last holiday camp at Bridge Valley. Our theme was Ultimate Army! We shared with the kids how to join God's army, and about the armor and weapon He gave us.
    1
    We want you!
    2
We started it out with a massive Top Team Event
    3
    Army Style
    4
    5
Then we did our normal activities like 4 wheelers
    6
    Go carts
    7
    And mountain boards
    8
Which Joe and I figured out that two people could ride one board down the hill but 3 was just a bit much :)
    9
We also figured out what the new BV scooter is good for!
    10
    11
And since it was an army camp cliff decided we needed something to really make it awesome so we had Helicopter rides!
    12
Every kid got a ride and was dropped off into a "warzone" and had to make their way back to camp!
    16
    13
Joe and I had to keep things running smoothly during the mission
    14
We found another good use for the scooter! And found out it was quite off-road capable!
    15
    17
And this is Clinton who came and spoke at the camp and ran the paintball! haha goood fun!

  • My New Tent

I got this Sierra Designs Lightning 2 man tent off trademe for $250NZD with was a really good price. It retails in the States for $260USD So I ended up saving about $70 and didn't have to wait for it to arrive from the states! It was in brand new condition never been used before!

I tried it out the night I got it! Even though it was pouring down rain! haha Figured it was a perfect opportunity to see how weather proof it was.

It is so easy to set up! The tent just clips to the two poles then you snap the fly on. I put it up in the living room then took it out and staked it down.

I stayed nice and dry the whole time, it never leaked inside so I am very happy! I didn't freeze either but I wasn't ever warm either!

  • Happy Birthday to the Queen!

Well for our day off we decided to go tramping. So we headed out to Lake Rotoiti and went up the St. Arnaud Ridge Track. A five hour hike to over 1650m with great views. It was 1650m and it did have great views but as for five hours? hahaha not for the three of us! It took Mum & Dad 9.5 hrs thanks to it getting dark and one torch going dead. I had come out earlier to try and get a pic of where we had been and then waited 40 min and once it got completely dark I headed back up the trail to find them! Thank God there was cellphone signal all the way up the trail so I could know they were alright. I helped them out with my headlamp we headed home. haha We love making memories with our trips and I think tramping in the dark in NZ alone is one I won't forget for a while! • Mmmm more analogies...

Well this week I had an unfortunate event occur. I lost my only set of keys for my car while at work, and I didn't realize that I had lost them until it was already dark. I looked around the property there at camp for them with a torch hoping I might spot them somewhere on the go cart or off roaders track. It was a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack. My torch was quite focused making it hard to cover a large area. Eventually I gave up and Joe let me use his car for the night. The next day my team had their scavenger hunt first thing in the morning. So I decided to add an extra bonus item: My Keys! haha And if they found it they got a coke! Well it took about 2 min for them to find them in the daylight.
Well here comes my analogy... It is kinda like us in life, we all are searching for our reason for life (weather we are saved or lost) We are trying to find happiness, contentment, peace. Well when we are searching or trying to do things to achieve these then it is like us looking for keys in the dark with a torch. We can spend years but in our own strength we might think we have found it but then find out that it was just our imagination. But when we come to Christ the son (or the SUN) of God then we are given everything we need through Him. He is the only one who can meet our needs. Just like I never found my keys till the sun came out the next day. Jesus Christ is who we need!
